I came across this site http://www.shutdownday.org/ and was interested by the idea of shutting down the computer for 24 hours continuously. Though its has not much impact on common people, it has great impact on professionals. Just think what all a computer professional can do, with his computer shut down for 24 hours…! And also, how much energy can be saved…! So, I am gonna promote it. Placed a small ad in my site and changed my status message in IM’s.
If you are interested in the idea, check out the site and participate in the survey…

A ray of hope… :-)
Today, there was a felicitation event for the last year Calicut university rank holders from MESCE. There was a total of around 30 ranks announced by the university and the college bagged 15. The event took place in the college auditorium, in which air conditioning works are being carried out. Few of the rank holders were present in the event, but the interesting thing was that there were ranks for almost every branches, but not for computer science. 🙁
The ray of hope was that more than 60 students from both 3rd and 4th year got placement in ‘INFOSYS’ through the campus recruitment which took place yesterday. Hope I could also reach a shore before the college life is over.

Strike, Film and IPL T20
The strike continued today too. But, there were rumors that some from girl’s hostel attended the exams and they just wrote their name and roll no in the answer paper. Anyway, the majority didn’t attend the exam and are hoping for a retest. A few of us(more than 10) went for the film, “Annan Thambi”, of Mammooty, which was released yesterday. At Popular Paradise, Valanchery, we had to wait for about 2 hours for the film to start. The film was interesting and Mammooty is in double role.
The IPL Twenty20(T20) also starts today. The days coming are that of T20 cricket. Details of IPL T20 can be found at http://www.iplt20.com/.

Strike on…
Its strike again… Now its for taking back some students who were suspended for some enquiry reasons. No one was allowed to enter the college and we were all in the hostel near by, named “Cuba”. Its the first time, our exams were not cancelled(Hope so as none attended).
Though there were plans to go for a film, we abandoned it and went to the river side. There were more than 6 from our classs and we enjoyed walking through the sand. We also got range for DD News in Aalok’s China made phone…:-)

A Vishu without celebrations
Today was the Vishu, one which we keralites celebrate as the new year. For this Vishu, there weren’t any celebrations as my brother is suffering from chicken-pox. Another reason is that my series exams starts tomorrow. The only good thing that happened was that I got a vishukaineetam of RS 200… May be I could recharge for GPRS with it.
